Problems with the Opel Tigra 2006: Black smoke, reduced performance and increased fuel consumption

Hi guys, I have a few problems with my Opel Tigra, built in 2006, with a gasoline engine. It no longer runs as usual. When I accelerate, black smoke comes out of the exhaust, the check engine light is on and the engine loses power. It also jerks when accelerating and I hear a strong hissing and whistling noise. Fuel consumption has also increased and the exhaust smells quite strong. I am of the opinion that it could be the boost pressure sensor. Have any of you ever had the same problem and could give me some troubleshooting tips? Would also be interested to hear your experiences once you have fixed the problem at the garage. Hey, I had similar problems with my 2008 Opel Corsa. I would describe myself as someone with some experience with cars, but I'm no expert. I took the car to the garage because the turbochargers were faulty. The engineers at the garage were able to fix it and I paid 1070.0 euros for it. Nevertheless, it would be helpful if you could provide precise information about your vehicle, such as the engine size or the exact type of engine, so that I can help you better. There are different versions and engine series, and the repair may vary depending on the model.

Hey, thanks for your answer! I hadn't even thought of the turbocharger. My Tigra has a 1.8 liter engine, if that helps. I last serviced it at 179031 km, so maybe it's time to have another look. But you're welcome! Your additional information will definitely help. The problem was similar with my Opel Corsa, only it had a slightly smaller 1.3 liter engine. With your 1.8 liter engine, it is of course possible that the cause lies elsewhere. However, it would definitely make sense to have the turbocharger checked. Even if 1070.0 euros may seem a lot at first glance, it's definitely worth it compared to a major engine failure. It could also be that the mass air flow sensor is defective. Had a similar situation once with my previous car (a VW) where the symptoms were pretty much identical. After the change, the jerking was gone and the fuel consumption was also back to normal. But as I said, I'm not a mechanic either. It would certainly make sense to have the garage look at it. They will certainly be able to help you! Good luck with it!
