Problems with the keyless entry system and lights on the Renault Kangoo 2010

Hey guys, I have a really strange problem with my Renault Kangoo, year of manufacture 2010, gasoline engine. The car simply won't lock or unlock and the lights flicker or are only dimly lit. My guess is the keyless entry system - could there be a malfunction? Does anyone have experience with such problems and can give me a few tips on how to isolate the problem? I am particularly interested in how your garage solved the problem and what your experiences were. Thank you for your help!

Hi buddy, I experienced a similar problem with my 2008 Renault Clio. I'm not a car expert, but I have a bit of experience with such things. In my case, it was the control unit that was faulty and not just because of the keyless system. My garage diagnosed it pretty quickly and I totally trust these people as I've been a customer of theirs for some time. They replaced the control unit and it cost me 1000 euros. It could be the same problem for you. But to be able to help you more precisely, I need more information about your vehicle. Which model is it exactly and when did the problems first occur? Do you perhaps still have a warranty on the vehicle? The more detailed the information, the better I may be able to help you. Keep us up to date, will you?

Hi, thanks for your reply, really helpful. It really is a Renault Kangoo, built in 2010. The problems occurred suddenly and without warning. Unfortunately, I no longer have a warranty on the car. The last service was at 50606 km, but apparently did nothing. What do you think I should do? Should I change the battery or go straight to the garage?

It's a shame to hear that the last service didn't help. That's always annoying, of course. I'm even more familiar with your 2010 Renault Kangoo because mine is the same model! Regarding your question: In general, flickering lights and problems with locking and unlocking can also indicate a problem with the battery. Especially with the cold temperatures now, it may be giving up the ghost. So one option would be to replace it first or at least have it tested. But my personal experience tells me that you should go straight to the garage and have the entire vehicle checked. Especially if the problem has suddenly appeared and the car is a bit older, the problem could be deeper. And it's best to have the control unit and the keyless system checked at the same time. As I said, this was the culprit in my car at some point. I hope I've been able to help you. Let me know how it turns out, will you? Good luck!

Hello, you've really helped me out! Your suggestions sound plausible, I think I'll have the battery checked and then drive straight to the garage to have the whole car checked. I'll definitely keep the control unit and keyless entry system in mind and suggest it to the mechanic. I'll definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks again! Have a nice day.
