Problems with overheating and check engine light on Ford Transit 2020: Possible coolant pump problems and troubleshooting

Hi guys, I have a small problem with my 2020 Ford Transit gasoline engine - it's overheating and my check engine light is constantly on. I suspect the coolant pump is not working properly. Have you had similar experiences or any troubleshooting tips? How did your garage fix the problem and what was your experience? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Ford Transit. I'm not a car mechanic, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. The coolant pump in my car wasn't working properly either and it turned out that the cable on the pump/control unit was faulty. They replaced the cable at my garage and everything has been working great ever since. The repair cost 220 euros. Take another close look at the pump, it could possibly be the cable. Can you give me more details about your car? Maybe I can help you even better that way. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for answering so quickly. My Transit has 134730 kilometers on it, the last service was about 6000 kilometers ago. I'll have a closer look at the cable and possibly have the part replaced in the workshop. Looks like that could be the problem. Greetings back!

Hello again, that sounds like a good idea. With that kind of mileage, I would definitely take a look at the cable. Sometimes it really is the little things that cause big trouble. The garage should be able to replace the cable relatively quickly and then your Transit should run perfectly again. Please let us know when the problem has been fixed. It would be great to know if we were right in our suspicions. Good luck and hopefully good news. Best regards!

Hi, that sounds really plausible, thanks for your advice. I've already made an appointment for next week at my garage and will definitely mention the cable issue to them. Hopefully it will all be as easy to solve as you've described. I'll keep you posted and let you know if that was the problem. Until then, thanks again and best wishes!
