Problems with Mercedes GLK Class (2006, petrol engine): Weakening battery and flickering lights when starting

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Mercedes GLK Class (built in 2006, gasoline engine). When starting, the battery weakens and the lights flicker or are dark. I suspect that the auxiliary battery could be defective. Has anyone had similar experiences and could give me some troubleshooting tips? How was the problem solved in your workshop? What were your experiences? Any help would be very welcome!

Hello, I am not an expert, but I have had some experience with cars. I had a similar problem with my Mercedes GLC Class (built in 2008, petrol engine). My battery was also faulty. I had it checked at my regular garage and they fitted a new battery. It cost me around €290. Make sure you take the time to check whether the lights flicker and how your car sounds when starting to define the problem more precisely. What exactly is your model and mileage? Maybe then I can tell you more.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. My model is also a GLK Class (2006). My mileage is 125963 km and the last service was recently. Your advice sounds sensible, that I should keep a closer eye on it first - I'll certainly do it. I just hope it won't be too expensive.

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for. Your mileage is quite high, so it could well be that the battery is simply worn out. Was it not checked during your last service? It's best to have it checked at a garage. They did a battery analysis on my GLC to determine whether it really needs to be replaced. Give it a try. Hopefully it's cheaper for you than it was for me. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hi, you're probably right. The battery wasn't checked during the last service, which is why I'm a bit surprised. I'll follow your advice and go to the garage to have the battery analyzed. Hopefully it won't be that expensive. Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it!
