Problems with brake warning light on Seat Altea 2016 - experiences and solutions wanted

Hello everyone, I have recently had a problem with my Seat Altea (built in 2016, petrol engine). The warning light in the speedometer comes on and I suspect that the brakes might be worn out. Have any of you ever experienced something like this and can give me tips on how you solved it in the workshop? I am grateful for any help.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Seat Leon (built in 2014, petrol engine). I have a bit of experience with cars, but I'm not an expert. At my garage, they replaced the brake wear indicator of the brake because it was defective. It cost me about 480 euros, but since then everything has been running smoothly again. Could you perhaps tell me a bit more about your car, how many kilometers it already has on it or when you last had the brakes changed? Maybe then I can help you even better.

Hey, thanks for your answer. My Altea has 66731 km on the clock. My last service was about a year ago. Maybe I should visit a garage to have it checked more thoroughly. Your experience sounds really helpful, thanks for that!

No problem, you're welcome! At your mileage, the brake wear indicator could really be the problem. My Leon had about the same mileage when I had this problem. Although a year since your last service is not uncommon, but you can never be too careful, especially with the brake system. A visit to the garage is definitely a good idea! Hopefully they'll be able to sort it out quickly. And if you're lucky, it won't be a major repair and won't be that expensive. Fingers crossed for you!

That reassures me a little, thanks again for your support! Well, I'll make an appointment with the garage on Monday. Hopefully it's nothing serious and can be fixed without any problems. Have a nice weekend!
