Thanks for sharing your experience. That definitely helps since my case seems very similar, particularly the part about the seat harness issues. How much did you end up paying for the complete repair? Also curious if the power seats have worked perfectly since the fix or if you noticed any other electrical gremlins popping up? The passenger seat in my Amarok still refuses to move at all, and since the seat switch seems completely dead, I want to budget properly for what might be a bigger job than initially thought.

Glad to provide an update, my power seats issue got fully resolved. The mechanics found the actual culprit was a severely discharged battery that was impacting the entire seat electrical system. Once they replaced the faulty battery for 290€, all seat functions returned to normal. The seat switch, seat motor, and entire seat harness have worked flawlessly since the repair two months ago. No electrical issues or warning lights have appeared. The passenger seat movement is now smooth and responsive, just like when the car was new. Looking back, I was initially worried about extensive wiring repairs like in my previous experience, but this fix was much more straightforward. Sometimes what appears as a complex seat wiring problem can be traced back to basic electrical system issues. If your Amarok shows similar symptoms, definitely have them check the battery condition first before diving into more complicated seat harness repairs.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies. Finally got my car back from the shop today. The diagnosis was spot on, they found significant water damage to the seat motor wiring harness under the passenger seat. Total repair came to 780€ including: New seat motor assembly, Complete wiring harness replacement, Labor for seat removal and installation, System testing and calibration The power seats now work perfectly again. All adjustment functions are smooth and responsive. The mechanic also applied additional waterproofing to prevent future moisture issues. Though more expensive than expected, getting the complete harness replaced rather than just patching the damaged sections gives me confidence in a long-term fix. The seat adjustment system feels as good as new. Worth sharing that they found the water damage came from a small tear in the floor seal that I never noticed. Getting that fixed prevented potential future electrical problems. Lesson learned about regular undercarriage inspections.

Had a similar issue with my 2018 VW Atlas TSI last month. The power seat adjustment system failed completely, showing identical symptoms with the seat motor error code. The root cause turned out to be corroded wiring connections in the seat harness under the passenger seat. Water had leaked through the floor mat and caused damage to the electrical connections. The seat wiring needed a full inspection, and several damaged connectors in the main seat harness required replacement. This was not a quick fix, the entire passenger seat had to be removed to access and replace the damaged components. The job involved: Complete seat removal, Testing the seat adjustment motor, Replacing corroded wiring sections, Installing new seat harness connectors, Testing all seat functions The repair proved more complex than initially expected since multiple connection points were affected. Taking a proper diagnostic approach was crucial, simply replacing the motor would not have solved the underlying wiring issue. Consider requesting a detailed inspection of the entire seat electrical system before agreeing to any repairs. Water damage to seat wiring often requires comprehensive harness work rather than just component replacement.
