Pajero's Electrical Nightmare: Transport Mode Mystery

Hey everyone! Got a 2009 Mitsubishi Pajero (gas) with some weird electrical issues. Several functions aren't working, warning light on the dash is lit, and the diagnostic shows stored faults. I suspect it might be stuck in transport mode. Has anyone dealt with this before? Would love to hear how your mechanic fixed it and what the actual problem was. My main concern is understanding the proper fix since I don't want to waste time with trial and error. Any insights?

Hey there! I've got some experience with cars (low experience), and I had a similar issue with my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. After a jump start, I experienced electrical gremlins too, warning lights, weird behavior with the power windows, the works. Took it to my local workshop, and turns out it needed a battery voltage reset procedure and recalibration of some electronic modules. Cost me about 45€ to get it sorted. The mechanic explained that sometimes after a jump start, the car's computer gets confused and needs a proper reset. Before I can give you more specific advice, Have you recently jump-started the car or had battery issues? Which warning lights exactly are you seeing? What functions specifically aren't working? This could help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same thing I did. With Mitsubishis, these symptoms can mean different things depending on the exact model and circumstances.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is 63940 KM, and I just had my service last month. Yeah, actually I did jump-start it about a week ago when I found a dead battery after leaving the lights on overnight. The main warning lights are the ABS and traction control, plus the power windows are acting up, they're super slow and sometimes don't work at all. The central locking is also being weird, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Haven't had any battery issues before this incident. Your Outlander story sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing, maybe I'll try that reset procedure you mentioned. Did your mechanic mention how long the fix typically lasts?

Hey again! Yes, your symptoms are almost identical to what I experienced with my Outlander after my jump-start incident. The reset procedure my mechanic did has been holding up perfectly, it's been about 8 months now with no issues at all. No more warning lights, power windows working smoothly, and the central locking is back to normal. Just to give you a heads up, when my mechanic did the reset, they also checked the battery's health since jump-starts can sometimes mask underlying battery issues. In my case, the battery tested okay, but they mentioned it's always good to check, especially with these Mitsubishi models since they can be a bit sensitive to voltage fluctuations. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, after the reset, they also had to reprogram my radio presets and clock, so you might want to note down your settings before getting the work done. Small hassle but definitely worth it considering all the electrical gremlins it fixed! 45€ was a bargain compared to what I thought I might be facing when all those warning lights first popped up. Sounds like you're dealing with the exact same thing, I'd definitely recommend getting that reset done sooner rather than later.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Really helpful to hear that the fix has been lasting for 8 months, that's exactly what I needed to know. I'll definitely make note of my radio settings before heading to the shop. You've actually made me feel a lot better about this whole situation, I was worried it might be something major (and expensive!), but 45€ for a reset procedure sounds way more manageable than what I was imagining. I'll get it checked out this week and make sure they test the battery too, just to be on the safe side. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it's saved me a lot of worry and probably some money too! I'll let everyone know how it goes in case someone else runs into the same issue.
