Opel Mokka: Yellow indicator light, loss of power and high consumption - experience wanted

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Opel Mokka (gasoline engine, year 2019, 102007 km run) and I'm pretty clueless. My yellow indicator light is on, the engine is running rough, it jerks when accelerating and the power has also dropped. Fuel consumption is also high. I suspect it could be a faulty signal from the intake air temperature sensor, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience at my last workshop visit. Have any of you ever had similar symptoms with your car and could possibly tell me how it went at the garage? I would really appreciate a few testimonials. Thank you!

Hey buddy, I can well understand your confusion. I had the same problem with my Opel Insignia (2016). It was a defect in the evaluation electronics (engine control unit). The engine ran similarly to yours, jerked and consumption was also increased. My mechanic had to replace the engine control unit as it was irreparable. It's a serious issue that should be fixed as soon as possible, not only to stop the increased consumption, but also to avoid major damage to the engine. Don't worry though, most garages should be able to handle it easily. Hope that helps you. Your best bet is to get your car to the garage as soon as possible. All the best!

Hey, thanks for the reply! Sounds like it could be a serious issue and yes, I plan to take the car to the garage as soon as possible. Could you maybe tell me how much you paid for the repair? And did you have any problems afterwards or did everything run smoothly again? And yes, I'm definitely hoping for a better garage experience this time! Really thanks for the help!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! So, the repair of the engine control unit, i.e. the defective evaluation electronics, cost me €1000 on my Insignia. It also fixed the fault with the intake air temperature sensor and everything was tip-top again. Absolutely no more trouble, everything ran like clockwork and consumption was back to normal. So, disease detected - disease averted! Really, don't worry. I'm sure your Mokka is in good hands and will soon be fit again. Good luck, buddy!

Hey, that's really great that everything went so well after the repair! Your experience definitely puts my mind at ease. Sure, €1000 isn't cheap, but if it helps to get the car back on the road, then it's definitely worth it. I'll take it to the garage as soon as possible and pray that the problem is just as easy to fix. Thanks again for your support! I'd still be pretty clueless without you. I hope my Mokka will run as well as your Insignia after the repair. Best regards and thanks again, my buddy!
