Nissan Qashqai 2008 Model Struggling to Start: Is it a Water Sensor Malfunction?

Hey folks, need your help. I've got a '08 Nissan Qashqai (Gasoline, 167109 KM on the clock) acting weird lately. It refuses to start sometimes, the engine just quits on its own and there's this pesky warning light on the speedometer. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing it could be Water sensor malfunction? Anyone faced something similar? How did your mechanic handle it? Trust me, I've got a bad history with mine and don't want to be suckered again. Thanks!

Hey, sounds quite familiar. Had a similar experience with my '05 Nissan Juke. The nasty warning light, the sudden engine quits and the frustrating no-starts...a real headache. Turns out, my problem was a defective sensor cable connection. The connections between the sensors and the engine Control Unit (ECU) were pretty messed up and needed a good fixing. That was affecting the transmission of crucial data to the ECU, making my engine behave like a wreck! My garage guy did a comprehensive check on the wiring and connections from the sensors to the engine control unit. After that, he replaced the faulty sensor connectors with new ones to restore normal functionality. Good thing is, this isn't normally a major issue if sorted on time. But if left ignored, can become a serious pain and may even leave you stranded. So, I'd say, get your car checked out as soon as you can. He might spot the problem right away and it'll save you a fair bit of bother. In the meanwhile, let's hope your Qashqai behaves itself. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I won’t ignore this, definitely taking my Qashqai in for a complete check asap. By the way, do you remember how much it cost you to get your sensor connectors replaced? Plus, after getting it fixed, did anything else pop up or have you been cruising trouble-free since then? Cheers!

Hey there! Indeed, the hassle with my sensor connector replacement did set me back a bit - cost me around 365 Euro all in. But trust me, it's a price worth paying for the peace of mind you get afterwards. My Juke has been running as smooth as silk since then. Here's some good news you'll love to hear - that pesky water sensor malfunction you were worrying about? Crack open a cold one, 'cause that got sorted as well when the mechanic did his magic on my sensor cable. A total game changer, if you ask me! Whew, what a relief. Bottom line, the sooner you get your Qashqai looked at, the better. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you!

Now that's reassuring to know! And 365 Euro isn't too bad, I was expecting a heftier price tag to be honest. Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience, it's really given me some much needed perspective. Cheers to your smooth running Juke and my hopefully soon-to-be trouble-free Qashqai! Fingers crossed indeed. Thanks again!
