Mini Roadster Transmission Issues

I'm at my wit's end! My 2012 Mini Roadster with nearly 200000 km on the clock is giving me fits. The engine warning light is on. I pulled the error code and it points to the transmission oil temperature sensor. Now the gearbox is in emergency mode and shifting is rough, almost like grinding. Could this be caused by low transmission oil?

Sounds like a faulty gearbox sensor. I had similar symptoms with my Mini. Check your transmission oil level first. Low oil can trigger these issues. It can also lead to the transmission oil temperature sensor throwing a code.

Thanks! How did you know it was the temperature sensor? What exactly was happening with your Mini when you experienced the issue?

The symptoms were nearly identical: rough shifting, MIL illumination, and eventually emergency mode. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis and transmission repair.

Thank you so much for your help and insight. It turned out to be exactly as you said. I had the transmission repair done for 365€. The faulty gearbox sensor was replaced and now it runs smoothly!
