Mini Roadster Preheating System Problem

I am experiencing a problem with the preheating system in my 2014 Mini Roadster, a diesel model. The mileage is currently 103219 km. The preheating lamp does not switch off, and the check engine light is illuminated. Additionally, there is smoke when accelerating. My initial assessment points to a defective preheating control unit, potentially a faulty cable or plug connection.

I had a similar issue with my Roadster, although I don't remember the exact mileage at the time. The preheating lamp staying on and the check engine light both sound very familiar. Have you checked the fuses related to the car electronics and vehicle heater?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not checked the fuses yet. Where exactly is the fuse box located in the Mini Roadster, and which fuses are relevant to the preheating unit?

Checking the fuses is a good first step, but it does sound like what I experienced. I'd advise getting it looked at by a workshop. I remember the smoke you describe, and it's not something you want to ignore for too long, especially with a potential issue with the car preheater or the heating module.

Understood, and thank you for your help. The problem was indeed in the preheating control unit. A defective cable/plug connection was identified as the cause. The repair cost was 95€. Everything works as it should now.
