Mini Roadster automatic temperature control problem

I am writing to you today with a problem concerning my 2014 Mini Roadster. The vehicle is a gasoline model and has approximately 11110 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed that the automatic temperature control no longer seems to be functioning as it should. The air conditioning system doesn't switch on, and I've found an error stored in the error memory which points towards a faulty interior temperature sensor. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the culprit? I'm not very experienced with car repairs, so any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds familiar. I had similar climate issues with my old car, a different brand though. It was a Volvo. In my case, the air conditioning system wouldn't switch on either, and there was some error stored. Have you checked the cable or plug connection of the component?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the cable or plug connection directly, to be honest. Where exactly was the temperature sensor located in your Volvo? And how difficult was it to access the relevant connections?

Unfortunately, I can't recall the exact location of the temperature sensor in the Volvo. It wasn't easy to access from what I remember. Given the symptoms you describe, and the error code, it does sound like a faulty temperature sensor or connection. If you are unsure, it might be best to get it checked at a workshop. They should be able to perform proper sensor diagnostics.

Just wanted to give you an update. The Mini went to the workshop, and as suspected, it was indeed the interior temperature sensor. Sensor replacement plus sensor diagnostics took care of it, and now the temperature reading is correct again. The climate issues are resolved, and the automatic temperature control is working perfectly. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks again for your input, it helped me to narrow down the possibilities.
