Interesting. Could you elaborate on how the battery condition specifically affects the rear window heating? I understand that a weak battery can cause electrical issues, but what's the direct link to the window heater? Was there a specific error code you remember?

Yes, the error code I got related to undervoltage, and it specifically mentioned that some comfort functions were disabled to conserve power. The rear window heater is considered a high-drain item. Basically, the car's computer saw the low voltage and shut it down. I'd advise getting your battery properly tested at a workshop, as it could save you a lot of troubleshooting time.

Thank you for sharing your experience. After inspecting the vehicle, it turned out that the battery was indeed heavily discharged as suspected, triggering the error and deactivating some consumers like the rear window heating to save energy. Replacing the battery for 290€ seems to have resolved the heating issue, as the rear window defroster is now functional. I appreciate the help!

I had a similar heating issue with my Paceman. The rear window heater stopped working, and it turned out to be related to the battery. Have you checked the battery's voltage? A weak battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins in these cars because the ECU starts shutting down non-essential functions.
