Mini One Oil Pressure Warning Light

I'm getting incredibly frustrated with my 2011 Mini One. It's a diesel and now the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up! There's also a warning light in the speedometer. I read the error memory, and it points to a faulty engine oil temperature sensor. From what I've gathered, it's likely a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar? It feels like chasing ghosts!

I had almost the same problem with my Mini One. The oil pressure warning lamp kept lighting up, and it turned out to be a faulty connection to one of the engine sensors. The behavior sounds very familiar. Did you check the connections to the temperature sensor? It might be something simple like a loose or corroded connector.

That's interesting! When you say 'one of the engine sensors', are you referring to the engine oil temperature sensor itself? Because that's what the error code points to. And where exactly is this sensor located? Is it easy to access, or do I need to take half the engine apart?

Yep, I was referring to the engine oil temperature sensor. It's located near the oil filter housing, if I remember correctly. I wouldn't recommend trying to fix it yourself unless you're comfortable working on cars. It's a bit fiddly, and you might end up causing more damage. Better to take it to a workshop and have them check the connections. It's like trying to fix a blown fuse - you can do it yourself, but if you don't know what you're doing, you might end up frying the whole system.

Just wanted to give you an update. Took the Mini to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was indeed the engine oil temperature sensor's cable that was faulty. They replaced the connector, and the warning lights are gone. Cost me 95€. Thanks a lot for your help!
