Mini One fault code and error messages

Alright, so my 2005 Mini One diesel is throwing a fault code, and I'm seeing error messages popping up in both the infotainment system and the speedometer. The car has km on the clock. From what I've been able to gather, the likely cause is incorrect vehicle coding. Has anyone else run into this? Is this something that a simple control module reset might fix, or am I looking at a more involved repair?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Mini One, though I can't remember the exact fault code. Did the malfunction indicator light come on? I was getting some weird messages too. How did you determine it was the coding? Just curious.

The malfunction indicator was indeed on. Engine diagnostics pointed to a fault code related to the ECU. You mentioned your Mini had something similar – did you also get error messages in both the infotainment system and the speedometer, or just one? And how was yours resolved?

Yeah, now that I think about it, I had errors in both displays too. And I remember the malfunction indicator being constantly lit. I tried a few things myself, but honestly, I ended up taking it to a workshop. They said it was some kind of coding issue and sorted it out pretty quickly. Would you know someone with the right equipment, or are you planning to visit a repair shop?

Just wanted to close the loop on this. Took the Mini to a local shop that specializes in European cars. They confirmed the incorrect coding on the control module using their scan tool, and after they recoded everything, the fault code and error messages are gone. Cost me 360€, but at least it's sorted. Thanks for sharing your experience; it pointed me in the right direction!
