Mini One Engine Trouble

Alright, hoping someone can give me some insight here. My 2004 Mini One has started acting up. It's getting harder to start, fuel consumption has definitely increased, and the engine power seems lower than it should be. Idling is also uneven, and the engine actually stalled a few times when stopped. Suspect it might be a defective injection nozzle, likely due to it being dirty. Anyone else experienced something similar with their vehicle, or have any advice on where to start?

Sounds like you might have a similar issue to what I had with my Mini One. Rough starting, poor idling, and a noticeable drop in power. Have you checked your fuel injectors? A clogged injector can cause all sorts of problems.

Interesting. So you think it's the injectors? How did you diagnose yours? Was it a specific cylinder, and did you try any fuel injector cleaner first, or just replace the injector outright?

Yeah, the symptoms seem spot on. I didn't diagnose it myself, I took it to a workshop because I didn't have the tools to check the injection myself. They confirmed it was the injectors. It's best to let professionals handle fuel injection problems. For me, it was cheaper to replace than repair, and it improved the vehicle engine performance.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Ended up taking it to a local shop. Turns out you were right, the injection nozzle was the culprit. A faulty injection valve created excessive clogging. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted. Runs like new now, performance is back where it should be. Fuel consumption is also back to normal. Thanks again!
