Mini One Electrical Issues

Okay, I'm officially losing it. My 2017 Mini One is throwing the weirdest errors. The warning light comes on sporadically, and sometimes systems like the audio or navigation just die. Other times, it's like a temporary shutdown. I ran a scan tool, and it's showing all sorts of errors. I suspect a defective cable connection to the BUS system. Has anyone else experienced anything similar with their Mini? I am dreading a huge repair bill!

Whoa, that sounds like a nightmare! Intermittent issues are the worst to track down. A defective BUS system cable connection on a Mini One... Hmm, I've heard of similar gremlins. When the malfunction indicator lit up, did you immediately use a scan tool? What error codes did you pull from the error memory? Also, did you notice if any specific driving mode triggered it more often? Maybe sport mode puts more strain on the system?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, it's driving me nuts. I did use a scan tool, but honestly, I was swamped with codes! A bunch pointed to audio/navigation failures, and some mentioned control module communication errors. I cleared them, and then a few different ones popped up later. Regarding driving modes, I haven't really noticed a pattern, but I mostly drive in standard mode. What kind of BUS system issues are you familiar with?

Yeah, those intermittent control module communication errors definitely point towards a BUS system issue, especially with the audio/navigation weirdness. It's likely a faulty connection somewhere, just like you suspected. I'm not a mechanic, but those kinds of issues can be tricky to pinpoint without proper equipment. Honestly, I think your best bet is to take it to a workshop with experience in Mini electrics. A proper diagnostic might save you a lot of headache, and the cost you mentioned sounds about right for tracing and repairing wiring.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Turns out the diagnostic was spot on! Took my Mini One to the workshop, and they confirmed it was a dodgy cable connection to the control module. They fixed it for 155€ as predicted. So glad it wasn't anything more serious. Thanks again for the help!
