Mini Countryman Hybrid Steering Angle Sensor Issue

My 2018 Mini Countryman Hybrid, with km, presents a defective steering angle sensor. Symptoms include increased steering effort, suggestive of power steering failure, and a vibrating steering wheel. Suspect faulty coding of the sensor. Any insights?

I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo after an accident. Shaking, increased steering effort, and the electronic stability light was on. Have you checked the alignment after hitting any potholes or curbs?

You mention alignment problems post-accident. Did your Volvo also display any unusual readings from other automotive sensors?

In my case, the automotive sensors seemed fine initially, but the wheel alignment was significantly off, which triggered the electronic stability program and subsequently impacted the steering. The garage said the alignment issue was the key to the problem. Might be worth having the alignment checked before sensor replacement.

Problem resolved. Faulty coding of the steering angle sensor was indeed the culprit. Sensor replacement and recalibration including wheel alignment performed, totaling 195€. Thank you for your input.
