Mini Countryman central locking malfunction

The central locking on my 2014 Mini Countryman diesel is acting up. Doors won't lock or unlock, and there's an error stored. Suspect a cable or plug connection issue, and estimate the repair cost is around 95€. Has anyone experienced something similar with their security system or locking mechanism?

I had something similar happen on my Countryman. The remote locking would intermittently fail and sometimes the keyless entry just wouldn't work. Did you check the wiring loom where it passes from the body into the door? Those can be prone to damage. Is the error code related to any specific door?

Yes, even if the error is general, a damaged wire within the loom can cause intermittent faults affecting the entire central locking system. The break might not be visible. Given the age of the car and the symptoms you describe, I'd strongly suspect that loom. Honestly, diagnosing it properly is a pain. Just bite the bullet and get a workshop to check the wiring, it will probably save a lot of time.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I did check the wiring loom visually, but didn't see anything obvious. The error code doesn't specify a particular door, just flags a general central locking malfunction. Could it still be a wiring issue even if it's intermittent and doesn't pinpoint a specific door?

Took it to the workshop, they diagnosed a defective connector in the door wiring harness as suspected. 95€ later, central locking on my Mini Countryman is working again. Thanks for sharing your experience, it helped confirm my suspicions.
