Mini Clubman oil pressure issue

I am writing to report an issue with my 2011 Mini Clubman, which has gasoline engine. The vehicle currently has 73634 km. The warning light in the speedometer, and the oil pressure warning lamp, are currently lit. Upon inspection, evidence of engine oil contamination was noted. Is it possible this is due to exceeding the maintenance interval?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar scare with my Clubman. Seeing that oil pressure light is never fun, is it? First thing, are you sure it's not just a simple oil leak somewhere? Maybe check around the oil filter and the drain plug? Also, what kind of engine oil have you been using? Some of those fancy oil additives can actually cause more harm than good.

An oil leak had not occurred to me. When you experienced this issue, did you observe any visible signs of leakage? What specific type of engine oil were you using at the time?

Okay, so I didn't spot any obvious leaks myself, but I'm no mechanic. My car was guzzling oil like crazy though. As for the engine oil, I'd been using some high-performance synthetic stuff that the parts store recommended. Turns out, it wasn't the best choice. Honestly, at this point, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional. Could be something simple, but engine damage is not something to play around with. Better safe than sorry, right?

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It does appear the maintenance interval was exceeded. I have had the engine oil and oil filter replaced at a local shop. Repair cost me 165€. The warning light in the speedometer is now off, and the oil pressure warning lamp is no longer illuminated.
