Mini Clubman Diesel Camshaft Sensor Issue

Alright, I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Mini Clubman diesel. It's done 167283 km. Seems like the camshaft sensor is defective. It starts poorly, and the engine power is reduced. There's an error stored in the memory. I'm thinking it might be a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced similar issues with the camshaft position and engine misfire?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Mini. Rough idling, felt like it was going to stall sometimes, and the engine definitely wasn't pulling as hard as it should. Did you check the crankshaft position sensor too? They often work together. What fault codes are you seeing?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the crankshaft position sensor yet, but I will add that to the list. The error code points directly to the camshaft sensor. What was the eventual fix for your Mini?

Yeah, mine ended up being the camshaft sensor itself. At first, I was hoping it was just a loose connection, but no luck. Given you've got the error code and the symptoms, it's probably worth getting it properly diagnosed. A workshop will be able to confirm for sure. Better safe than sorry, you don't want to risk damaging anything else.

I took the Mini Clubman down to the workshop. They confirmed the camshaft sensor was indeed faulty, probably due to a bad connection like we suspected. 95€ later and it's starting perfectly again. Thanks for the help!
