Mini Clubman central locking failure

Alright, I'm officially losing it! My 2010 Mini Clubman is playing up big time. The central locking has completely stopped working. Doesn't matter if I use the key or the remote, the door locks just won't budge. And to make things worse, there's now an error message stored in the system. My mechanic suggested it's likely a defective cable or plug connection. Seriously considering setting this thing on fire. Has anyone else experienced anything similar with their car locks?

Oh man, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot a few years back. The central locking just went haywire. First thing, does the car alarm still arm or disarm when you use the remote, or is that completely dead too? Have you checked the fuses related to the central locking system? Sometimes it’s just a blown fuse, and it's an easy fix.

The car alarm seems to be working fine, it still arms and disarms when I use the remote. I haven't checked the fuses yet, to be honest. Do you know which fuse specifically controls the central locking? And where I can find the fuse box diagram in my Mini Clubman?

Okay, if the car alarm is still working, that does point away from a completely dead fuse, but it’s still worth checking. For the fuse diagram, check your owner's manual. It should have a detailed layout. Honestly, based on what you've described, and the mechanic's suggestion, it probably is a wiring issue. In my Peugeot, it turned out to be a corroded connector in the door. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they sorted it out pretty quickly. It might be worth biting the bullet and letting a professional take a look, especially if you're not comfortable fiddling with car electrics.

Just wanted to give you an update. Took my Clubman to the workshop today, and you were spot on. It was a dodgy cable connection to the central locking module. They charged me 95€ to fix it, which I think is reasonable. Everything's working perfectly now, car locks and unlocks with the remote again, and no more error message. Thanks a million for your help!
