Mini Cabrio parking aid fault

My 2014 Mini Cabrio diesel is throwing a parking aid fault. The parking assistant is completely non-functional, and the error memory is showing a fault related to the system. From what I've gathered, the most likely culprit is a defective cable or plug connection somewhere in the system. Has anyone experienced something similar? The parking sensors, rearview camera, proximity sensors and blind spot sensors are not working. I'm trying to gauge whether this is something I can tackle myself or if I should just bite the bullet and take it to a workshop.

Sounds like a frustrating issue. I had a similar problem with my old Volvo – the parking sensors went haywire. Turned out to be a corroded connector on one of the sensors. It's always the little things, isn't it? Like a single bad apple spoiling the bunch.

Interesting. Was it difficult to diagnose on the Volvo? Did you have to replace the entire sensor, or were you able to repair the connector itself?

Diagnosis wasn't too bad; it was mostly visual inspection after getting the error code read. I managed to just clean and protect the connector on the Volvo. Given the predicted repair cost of 95€ for your Mini, it probably points to a wiring issue that needs proper repair, rather than just a clean. I'd suggest letting a workshop handle it to ensure it's done correctly. It's not always worth the hassle of chasing faulty wiring yourself.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the workshop, and you nailed it. It was indeed faulty wiring to one of the rear parking sensors. They replaced the damaged section, and the parking assistant, including the rearview camera, is working perfectly again. Cost me exactly 95€, as predicted. Appreciate the help!
