Mini Cabrio Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Issue

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my 2020 Mini Cabrio which currently has km on the odometer. A warning light is illuminated in the speedometer, accompanied by an error stored in the error memory and intermittent illumination of the oil pressure warning lamp. Car diagnostics indicates a faulty engine oil temperature sensor. Based on my assessment, the most probable cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the component. Could anyone provide insights or guidance before I proceed further

Whoa, that sounds like a headache Oil pressure warnings are never fun. First thing's first, did you check the oil level itself Sometimes the simplest things get overlooked. Also, have you tried clearing the error code to see if it reappears immediately

Okay, if the oil level is fine and the error code keeps popping up even after clearing it, especially with the oil pressure light acting up, then yeah, it definitely sounds like the oil sensor or its wiring is the culprit like you suspected. Given the potential for engine damage, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop sooner rather than later. They can properly diagnose the wiring and replace the sensor if needed.

Thank you for your response. Yes, the oil level has been checked and is within the acceptable range. Regarding the error code, I have cleared it multiple times using a car diagnostics tool, but it returns shortly after the engine is started, typically within a few minutes. Could you elaborate on why checking the oil level would affect the engine oil temperature sensor reading

I appreciate your input regarding the oil sensor issue. The problem was indeed a defective cable connection to the engine oil temperature sensor. The Mini Cabrio is now repaired, with the cable and plug connection restored, and the error memory cleared. Total cost amounted to 95€ Thank you for your assistance.
