Mini Cabrio engine issues

Thanks for sharing your experience. Where exactly did you check for vacuum leaks, and did you measure the manifold pressure yourself? Is there anything specific to look for around the air intake?

Yes, the vacuum leak on mine was near the intake manifold gasket. You can try spraying some carburetor cleaner around the intake manifold while the engine is running, and listen for changes in the engine's RPM. That's a rudimentary way to check for leaks. The manifold pressure can be measured with an OBD scanner. However, given your symptoms, I would strongly recommend having a workshop diagnose the issue. It's likely a cracked or warped intake manifold.

Appreciate the insight. As suspected, the workshop confirmed a leaking intake manifold due to scorching. The invoice came to 1180€. Hopefully, this resolves the issues I've been experiencing.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Mini Cabrio: jerking during acceleration, check engine light, rough idle, and even stalling sometimes. The error memory also had some stored faults. Have you checked for any signs of a vacuum leak around the air intake? What about manifold pressure readings?
