Mini Cabrio Electrical Malfunctions

My 2013 Mini Cabrio diesel is exhibiting some rather perplexing issues. The onboard diagnostics reports an error stored in the error memory, accompanied by general electrical malfunctions and a non-functional navigation system. Initial indications suggest implausible control unit programming. The projected repair cost is around 240€. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? I suspect a software bug.

Whoa, electrical gremlins are the worst! I had something similar happen in my Mini, though it wasn't the diesel version. My nav system went bonkers, and the onboard diagnostics threw a code. Did you try a simple software reset? Sometimes that clears up a software bug. Basically, disconnect the battery for like, 15 minutes and see if it helps.

Interesting. By software reset, do you mean just disconnecting the battery? I've read about that potentially clearing error memory, but I was hesitant without knowing if it could cause further issues with the control unit.

Yeah, disconnecting the battery is what I meant. But if you're worried about messing things up more, and you've already got error codes popping up, maybe best to avoid it. It sounds more serious than what I had. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They did a full software update, which I guess is a more thorough software reset. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked professionally.

Just a quick update. The Mini dealer confirmed the control unit programming was indeed implausible. They performed a software update, which included a recalibration. Everything seems to be functioning normally now. Thanks for your input.
