Mini Cabrio diesel engine issue

My 2011 Mini Cabrio diesel is throwing up a check engine light and has seriously reduced power. Plus, it's puffing out smoke when I accelerate. Suspect the crankcase ventilation valve is faulty. Anyone else had this?

Sounds like a PCV valve issue. I had similar smoke and power loss with my Mini, though no light. Have you checked for any obvious leaks around the crankcase ventilation?

Yeah, it can be tricky to see without removing some parts. Look around the valve cover and any hoses connected to the crankcase ventilation system. If you're not comfortable poking around, a workshop will diagnose it quickly. It does sound like the PCV to me.

Thanks, that confirms my suspicions. I've booked it in for a PCV valve replacement. Seems the best bet. Costing around 360€. Cheers for the help!
