M2 Steering Shake & ABS Warning: Diagnosis Help Needed

Thanks for sharing your experience! My M2 has 28071 KM on it, and it's been well maintained with all services up to date. Yeah, the shaking does get more noticeable at higher speeds, especially above 70. It's just the ABS light that's on, no other warning lights to report. Your tire pressure sensor story sounds pretty similar to what I might be dealing with. I'll definitely get that checked out with my mechanic. Just hoping it's something straightforward like in your case and not something more serious with the steering system.

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your M2. You know what, those symptoms at higher speeds definitely match what I experienced with my M4. When you mentioned it gets worse above 70, that's exactly how mine acted up too. Between my experience and what you're describing, I'm even more convinced it could be that tire pressure sensor acting up. These systems are pretty sensitive in our M series, and when one component goes wonky, it can trigger a chain reaction of issues. Just to add to my previous advice, after my sensor was fixed, I learned it's actually pretty common in these models. The workshop told me they see quite a few M cars with similar symptoms. The good news is that based on your mileage (which isn't that high) and the fact that it's been well maintained, I really doubt it's anything major with the steering system. Quick tip though, when you take it in, ask them to do a full sensor diagnostic. In my case, they found that the faulty valve had been sending irregular signals to the ABS module for a while before it became noticeable. Better to catch any other potential issues while they're at it. Keep us posted on what your mechanic finds! Always interested to hear how these things turn out.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! It's really reassuring to hear your experience was fixable without any major drama. I've actually just booked my M2 in for tomorrow morning, asked specifically for that full sensor diagnostic you mentioned. Called my usual workshop and they said they've got the right diagnostic tools for these models, which is good to hear. You're right about these M cars being sensitive, guess that's the trade-off for all that performance! I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed that it's just the sensor situation like yours was. The maintenance costs can get pretty scary when it's something more serious. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and tips. It's helped calm my nerves about the whole thing. I'll try to post an update once I get the verdict from the workshop. Thanks again!

Hi there! I've got some experience with cars (some experience level) and had a similar issue with my 2018 M4 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I went through, the steering wheel shake was really nerve-wracking! Turned out one of my tire pressure sensors had a faulty valve that was causing inconsistent readings and affecting the ABS system. Had it checked at my regular workshop, they diagnosed it pretty quickly and replaced the valve. Cost me around 280 Euro but totally worth it for the peace of mind. My M4 has been running smoothly since then. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you tell us if the shaking gets worse at higher speeds? Also, have you checked if the warning light is specifically the ABS or are there other lights on too? These details would help narrow things down better. The M series can be tricky sometimes!
