Lucra Gearbox Slip Causing Transfer Case Oil Leak

My gearbox is slipping badly and shifting feels rough in my 2022 Lucra with 78000km. I can hear some gear grinding noise during shifts and noticed a bit of gear oil leakage under the car. The transfer case seems to be the source. Had a bad experience with my last mechanic and looking for advice before taking it somewhere else. Anyone dealt with similar gear wear issues on their Lucra? What was the fix and cost? Running a gas engine and worried this might get expensive if not fixed soon.

The symptoms you describe match what happened with my 2019 Lucra Sport GT. The gear grinding and oil leakage from the transfer case required immediate attention as it indicated severe mechanical wear. The root cause was a failing transfer case with multiple worn gears and damaged seals. This created metal debris in the gear oil, which accelerated the wear on other components. Left unfixed, it would have led to complete transmission failure. The repair involved: Complete transfer case removal and rebuild, Replacement of worn gears and bearings, New seals and gaskets installation, Fresh gear oil change, Adjustment of shift linkages This was a major repair that took several days to complete. The worn transfer case gears were causing the slipping and rough shifting you mentioned. Getting it fixed early prevented additional damage to the transmission. Watch for these warning signs: Metallic particles in gear oil, Increasing oil leakage spots, Progressive worsening of shift quality, Growing noise during gear changes Given the symptoms and mileage, having it diagnosed soon is crucial to prevent catastrophic failure. The transfer case plays a vital role in power delivery, and these issues typically dont resolve without intervention.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Lucra transfer case issues. The symptoms do match my problems exactly. I plan to get it checked soon. Quick question, do you remember the total repair cost for the transfer fluid and gear replacements? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other mechanical wear issues pop up? Been tracking the oil leakage spots under my car and they seem to be getting worse each week, so want to budget properly for the repairs.

Just wanted to update you after seeing your question. The repair for my Lucra transfer case oil wear issue was actually very reasonable at 330€, which covered new gears and a complete fluid change. The mechanic found several defective gears in the transfer case that were causing the problems. Since getting it fixed 8 months ago, the transmission has been shifting perfectly with no gear grinding or oil leakage issues. The repair completely resolved the wear problems and prevented any additional mechanical damage. My advice would be to get it checked soon since your oil leakage is increasing, waiting too long can lead to more extensive transfer case damage and higher repair costs. The fresh gear oil and new components made a huge difference in shift quality. The investment was worth it to prevent a total transmission failure. No other related issues have appeared since the repair.

I took my Lucra to a certified transmission specialist last week after reading the advice here. The diagnosis confirmed exactly what was suspected, worn transfer case components causing the gear grinding and oil leakage. The total repair came to 450€, which included: Transfer case rebuild, New gear set installation, Complete oil change, Labor costs The mechanic showed me the worn parts they removed. The gear wear was pretty severe and metal particles had contaminated the old oil. They explained waiting longer would have caused total transmission failure. Got the car back after 3 days and the difference is incredible. No more grinding sounds during shifts, the gearbox feels smooth again, and most importantly, no more oil spots on my garage floor. Should have done this repair months ago when the symptoms first started. Really glad I asked here first and got solid advice. The repair cost was actually less than expected and potentially saved thousands in future damage.
