Thanks for sharing that helpful info about the diesel injector repair. My issue seems very similar, especially the rough idle and onboard diagnostics codes. I ended up having it fixed last week, took it to a diesel specialist after reading your post. Would you mind sharing roughly what you paid for the full repair? Just want to compare if the cost was in the same range. Also curious if youve had any other fuel injection problems since getting it fixed? My mechanic mentioned something about periodic system resets being important for these engines.

Had the repair done at 24000km and its been running great since then. The total bill came to 515 Euro for replacing one defective injection valve. The reset quantity drift compensation issue cleared up immediately after the repair, and the system reset fixed all rough idling problems. The fuel injection system has performed flawlessly for the past 8 months. Regular system resets are indeed important for optimal fuel economy, my mechanic recommends scheduling them during routine maintenance intervals. The car sensors now show normal readings across all parameters. The specialist did mention that keeping the tank above quarter full and using quality diesel helps maintain proper injector function. Since the repair, Ive been following this advice and havent experienced any compensation adjustment issues or check engine warnings. Its worth noting that catching injection problems early helped avoid more expensive repairs later. The diagnostic equipment used for the system reset also confirmed no additional injectors needed replacement, which kept the cost down.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I took my Renegade to a diesel specialist shop last week and the experience was much better than my previous mechanic. The whole repair cost me 680 Euro, which included replacing two faulty injectors and doing a full system reset. The mechanic showed me their diagnostic readouts before and after the fix. The drift compensation values were way off initially but returned to normal after the repair. They also performed some performance tuning to ensure everything was running efficiently. The car runs perfectly now, no more rough idling or check engine lights. The fuel economy has actually improved quite a bit too. They suggested I come back in 6 months for another system reset just to keep the car sensors calibrated properly. Really glad I found a reliable specialist instead of going back to the general repair shop. The techs actually took time to explain what they were doing and showed me the worn injectors. Much better experience overall and worth the investment to have it done right.

Had similar symptoms with a 2019 Jeep Compass diesel. The rough idle and check engine light pointed to faulty fuel injectors. After running diagnostics, found the fuel quantity compensation adjustment was out of range. A failing injector can cause serious engine damage if not addressed promptly. The repair involved replacing two defective injectors and performing a system reset to calibrate the new components. The performance tuning afterward was essential to ensure proper fuel economy and engine operation. The reset procedure required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly calibrate the injection timing. This is not a DIY job, proper tools and expertise are needed to avoid causing more issues. The repair took about 4 hours total. Most importantly, using low-quality diesel or letting the tank run too low can accelerate injector wear. Regular fuel system maintenance helps prevent these issues. Would recommend finding a shop that specializes in diesel injection systems rather than a general mechanic. Based on the symptoms described, strongly suggest having all injectors tested. The repair cost varies but its crucial to address injection problems before they cause more extensive engine damage.
