Intermittent problem with the check engine light on a Mitsubishi ASX

Hi everyone, I have a 2010 Mitsubishi ASX with 287,000 km and I'm experiencing a problem with the check engine light. The light comes on after a rough engine shutdown, although the car continues to run correctly without jerking, increased consumption, or smoke. The OBD-2 reading indicates a fault in the EGR, but I'm not sure since the car seems to be working fine. Sometimes, after two correct shutdowns, the light doesn't come on when I start the car. Recently, the car attempted a regeneration, the revolutions increased but then dropped, and after three attempts, the light came on. Could it be the EGR collector, a sensor, or a hose? If the EGR were dirty or blocked, shouldn't I notice jerking or loss of power? Has anyone had a similar experience or can offer any suggestions?

Start by checking the EGR valve for any visible signs of blockage or carbon buildup, as this is a common issue that can trigger the check engine light. Cleaning the EGR valve might resolve the problem. If the issue persists, consider inspecting the EGR sensor and hoses for any leaks or damage. Let us know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

The valve, they told me, didn't have significant carbon buildup. The truth is the car runs well, but the engine shutoff isn't clean when it turns off, and afterwards, when starting, the engine fault shows.

Since the EGR valve seems to be in good condition, try inspecting the EGR solenoid and its electrical connections for any signs of wear or damage. A faulty solenoid can cause improper EGR operation, leading to rough shutdowns and triggering the check engine light. Ensure all connections are secure and free of corrosion. Let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions!
