Honda S660 Injector Woes: Black Smoke & Stalling Nightmare

Hey all! My 2018 Honda S660 (237K km) is giving me nightmares. The engine's acting up big time, constantly stalling, losing power, and blowing black smoke when I hit the gas. The check engine light's on and it's drinking fuel like crazy. Pretty sure it's injection-related, but my last mechanic experience was terrible and I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Any recommendations for getting this fixed properly? Really need some advice on this one. Thanks!

Hey there! I had almost identical issues with my 2015 Honda CR-Z last year. Black smoke, poor acceleration, and excessive fuel consumption were the exact symptoms I experienced. After diagnosis, it turned out to be a defective fuel injector. The mechanic showed me that one injector wasn't spraying fuel properly, causing uneven combustion. They had to replace two injectors and clean the remaining ones. This was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention, running the engine with faulty injectors can damage other components like the catalytic converter. In my case, the fix wasn't just about the injectors; they also had to clean the fuel rail and update the ECU programming. It took about two days to complete all the work, but my car's been running smooth since then. Better get it checked soon, these symptoms won't fix themselves and will only get worse. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm going through with my S660. My biggest worry is that it'll end up costing an arm and a leg, and I'll still have issues popping up later. Mind if I ask how much the whole repair set you back? And has everything stayed running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other problems? Really appreciate your help on this one, feels good knowing I'm not the only one who's dealt with this headache!

Hey again! Happy to give you an update! After getting my CR-Z fixed, it's been running like a dream. The total bill came to 515€ for replacing the defective injector, and honestly, it was worth every penny. The functional limitation of the injection system is completely gone now, no more black smoke, no stalling, and my fuel consumption is back to normal. I totally get your concerns about ongoing issues, but I can honestly say I haven't had a single problem since the repair. It's been such a relief not having to worry every time I start the car! The engine runs smoother than ever, and that annoying check engine light hasn't come back on. My advice? Don't put it off like I initially did, it'll only lead to more stress and potentially bigger problems. The peace of mind alone was worth the investment. Plus, you might end up spending more on excess fuel consumption if you keep driving it as is. Let me know how it goes when you get it sorted!

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually bit the bullet and took my car to a mechanic yesterday. Just like you said, it was the fuel injectors causing all the drama. Got two replaced and had the others cleaned up. The bill came to about 480€, a bit painful for the wallet, but what a difference! Took it for a test drive this morning and it's like driving a completely different car. No more black smoke, engine's running smooth, and that annoying stalling has completely stopped. Funny thing is, I was so worried about getting ripped off, but the mechanic actually showed me the old injectors and explained everything. They were totally gunked up! Should've done this weeks ago instead of stressing about it. Really appreciate everyone's help on this. Time to enjoy my newly fixed ride!
