Hi guys, I'm a bit worried about my Ford S Max (year of manufacture 2009, gasoline engine, 112946 km mileage). I had pretty bad luck with the mechanic last time and want to play it safe. I have general electrical problems, faults are stored, the lights flicker or are dark and the battery is weak when starting. I suspect the break in terminal 15 could be to blame. Moin Moin, yes, it does sound like a problem with the engine control unit. I had a similar problem with my 2012 Ford Mondeo. The symptoms were also electrical difficulties and a weak battery when starting. It was actually the engine control unit that was faulty. On my last visit to the garage they had to replace it completely. It was quite a challenge for the mechanics, as the engine control unit is the command center for various systems in the car. Not necessarily something to be happy about, especially if the car is otherwise in good condition. But don't be too worried, as long as you have a capable mechanic, everything should be fine. Hey, I can tell you the exact cost: I paid €1000 for the engine control unit. A pretty penny, I'll tell you that. But since then the Mondeo has been running like clockwork again. If it tweaks, you just have to invest, unfortunately there are hardly any alternatives. But it was worth it in the end.
