Hey, thanks for the reply. Oh dear, that doesn't sound too rosy. Replacing the engine control unit completely... Sounds really time-consuming. Do you remember how much the whole thing cost you? Have there been any other problems with your Mondeo since then? Thank you and best regards!

Hey, I can tell you the exact cost: I paid €1000 for the engine control unit. A pretty penny, I'll tell you that. But since then the Mondeo has been running like clockwork again. If it tweaks, you just have to invest, unfortunately there are hardly any alternatives. But it was worth it in the end. Just like with your S Max with the interruption in terminal 15: since the visit to the mechanic, it's working great again. So cheer up, it'll be fine! Best regards back!

Hello, phew, that is indeed a tidy sum. But well, if it runs smoothly again afterwards, it's probably worth it. I'll take that as motivation and get on with it. Hopefully the mechanics will have the right touch for my S Max. Thanks for the encouraging words and honesty. I'll let you know how it goes. Stay healthy and thank you again! Best regards!

Moin Moin, yes, it does sound like a problem with the engine control unit. I had a similar problem with my 2012 Ford Mondeo. The symptoms were also electrical difficulties and a weak battery when starting. It was actually the engine control unit that was faulty. On my last visit to the garage they had to replace it completely. It was quite a challenge for the mechanics, as the engine control unit is the command center for various systems in the car. Not necessarily something to be happy about, especially if the car is otherwise in good condition. But don't be too worried, as long as you have a capable mechanic, everything should be fine. Good luck, buddy!
