Thanks so much for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with, even that whirring noise you mentioned. It's really helpful to know what you found with yours. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it? Cheers!

Hey again! Happy to give you an update! After getting it fixed at my Porsche specialist, it cost me 365€ total for replacing the blower motor. And I've got to say, it was totally worth every penny! The fresh air blower has been working like a charm since the repair, no more weird noises or weak airflow issues. It's been running perfectly smooth for months now. You know, when you first described your problem, I knew exactly what you were talking about because it was so similar to what I experienced with my Cayman S. Getting it fixed by someone who really knows Porsches made all the difference. The ventilation system now works exactly like it should, strong, consistent airflow, and completely quiet operation. Just a heads up, those symptoms you're describing won't get better on their own, but the fix is pretty straightforward when you've got the right help to do it. Hope this helps with your decision! Take care!

Thanks for all the info! Just wanted to update you all, I took your advice and got it sorted yesterday at a certified Porsche specialist. You were spot on about the blower motor and cabin filter! The whole thing set me back about 400€, which wasn't too bad considering. They showed me the old blower motor, those bearings were completely shot! The mechanic was great, really knew his stuff and explained everything clearly. Even showed me the clogged filter, and it was pretty nasty. The best part? My AC is now blasting like it's brand new! No more weird noises, and the airflow is perfect. Such a relief to have it fixed properly. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, I might've wasted time and money at a regular mechanic without your help. Cheers for saving me the hassle!

Hey there, I had the exact same issue with my 2012 Porsche Cayman S last winter. The blower started getting really weak and would occasionally make this weird whirring noise. Turned out the blower motor was going bad and there was also a clogged cabin air filter making things worse. Took it to my trusted Porsche specialist and they found that the blower motor's bearings were shot, which is apparently a known issue in these cars. They had to replace the entire blower motor assembly and the cabin air filter. It wasn't a super complicated fix, but definitely needed someone who knows Porsches since accessing the blower motor is a bit tricky in these cars. The repair wasn't a major mechanical issue, but it's definitely something you want to fix soon because it'll only get worse and could potentially stop working completely. Plus, driving without proper ventilation isn't fun. I can't help with mechanic recommendations since we're probably in different areas, but I'd suggest looking for a certified Porsche specialist rather than a general mechanic for this kind of work. Good luck with the repair!
