Difficulties with Peugeot Partner 2018: high fuel consumption, exhaust problems and unstable driving condition

Hi guys, I'm currently having a few problems with my 2018 Peugeot Partner with a petrol engine (almost 200,000 km on it) that are really making me sweat. I've been to the mechanic recently, but it was more of a disaster. Heavy clouds of exhaust fumes, the lights go out before stopping at traffic lights, sometimes it has a really hard time accelerating. Then there's this strange rocking - it doesn't drive as smoothly as it used to, especially when accelerating. The fuel consumption has also gone through the roof and the exhaust smells terrible! I'm beginning to suspect that it might have something to do with the fuel volume regulator... the old check engine light won't leave me in peace either. Have any of you ever had similar problems and how did you tackle them? I would be extremely grateful for any tips before I go back to the mechanic. Best regards!

Hello, I recently had similar problems with my 2015 Peugeot 3008, which turned out to be a defective wiring harness/connector. The symptoms were almost identical, my car no longer ran smoothly, the exhaust fumes were very strong and the fuel consumption was very high. After I went to my garage and the fault memory was read out, it turned out that it was actually the wiring harness/plug. After these were replaced, the car ran like clockwork again. I think you might be right in suspecting the fuel volume regulator. My indicator light didn't go out there either. I would recommend having that checked, it could solve your problem. It's a serious issue, but it's definitely fixable. I hope this info helps you and you get your car back on the road quickly. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the helpful answer. That makes me feel a bit better. I think I really need to have the wiring harness/plug checked. Can you remember the cost of the repair that you incurred? And have you had any other complications with your Peugeot since the repair? Thanks again and best regards!

Hey, glad I could help you! I paid €155 to replace the wiring harness/plug. It's certainly not exactly cheap, but since then my Peugeot has been running like a kitten again. As far as the fuel volume regulator is concerned, there have been no more problems since my visit to the mechanic. The fault was gone and since then there have been no more faults. The car is now running smoothly again and the exhaust fumes are back to normal. Fuel consumption is also back in the green zone. So, have it checked, it's really recommended. And don't worry, it'll be fine! Good luck!

Hi, your answer is a real soul saver! I will definitely have the wiring harness/plug checked. Of course, €155 isn't exactly cheap, but if it gets my Peugeot running again, I'm happy to pay it. I'm assuming that the situation is similar with the fuel volume regulator. I'm really relieved to hear that you didn't have any more problems after the repair. Thanks again for the great advice. I hope I can get my car running again soon and can drive again without any worries. See you then and best regards!
