They found a damaged wire harness in the door that was causing intermittent power window failures. The window motor and car electronics were fine, but the harness was pinched during a previous repair, slowly degrading the connection to the window controls. Total repair came to 380 Euro including diagnosing and replacing the wire harness. All window functions are working perfectly now and no more unusual error messages.
