Dacia Sandero Diesel '08 Experiencing Engine Trouble; Possible EGR Valve Issue?

Hey, sounds like deja vu to me. I had a similar issue with my '05 Dacia Logan Diesel last year. My Beastie had just about the same symptoms - that check engine light, unusual stalling, power loss - you name it. And yup, you're bang on the money, it turned out to be a faulty EGR valve. Stuck, if I remember correctly. Had to get my baby into the garage. The job required a hefty amount of work, as the valve itself is tightly fitted in the engine bay. So, first things first, they had to remove the air intake pipe and other bits to get access. Then, cleaning the clogged up EGR valve was somewhat a task and finally, they replaced it with a new one. Since, it's a bit of a serious issue especially if the EGR valve is causing engine stalling as the valve controls the engine's emission and cylinders' firing pattern. I'd recommend getting your girl checked out professionally. Maybe ask around or google a well-reviewed mechanic in your vicinity? Good luck with your Sandero, hope it all sorts out soon. Cheers!

Howdy there! You're spot on - fixing that pesky EGR valve wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but at least the outcome was worth it. She's been running pretty smoothly since then, no dodgy lights or power loss nonsense anymore. Now, talking about the wallet damage - it did stray a bit north of what you'd call bargain. The whole shindig set me back by about 355€. Granted, it's not spare change, but for the peace of mind and having my Logan purring like a kitten again, I'd say it's money well spent. Since then, touch wood, no other creepy-crawlies have decided to pop up. I can tell you, it's been a relief! I'd seriously recommend biting the bullet and getting your Sandero checked out. I reckon, given your experience, it's about time I took the plunge and made peace with parting some cash. 355€ does seem rather steep but I suppose when it comes to car repairs, it's all part and parcel of the game.
