Cruise Control Failure in 2015 Dacia Sandero: Seeking Advice and Personal Experiences

Hey petrol heads, Got a bit of a head-scratcher here with my 2015 Dacia Sandero, running on Gasoline and clocked up around 67,549 km. No joy with the cruise control lately, and my on-board comp is flagging up a fault. Now, I reckon it's tied to the cruise control conking out. Had a shady experience with my last garage visit, so I'm a bit wary. Any of you had a similar snag and how did it pan out at your mech's? Would appreciate some real talk here. Cheers!

Hey! Your issue sounds all too familiar. I had a similar problem with my 2018 Dacia Duster a while back. My cruise control kept conking out and my system flagged up a similar fault. The culprit turned out to be a defective cable connection to one of the sensors. It's not a major issue, but you can't let it slide. Bad sensor connection can cause all sorts of nuisance including impaired performance of systems dependent on sensor inputs, in this case, the cruise control. It's like trying to listen to the radio with a dodgy antenna. At the garage, they found the cable wasn't seated properly. It seems the connection had come loose over time. They sorted it in no time and it was a pretty straightforward job - tighten the connection, check the output, and clear the error codes. No fuss really, just a routine job. Make sure your mechanic checks all sensor connections while they're at it. A little prevention sure beats a load of cure! Good luck and let's hope it's the easily fixable issue like mine was. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for the heads up - it's helpful to hear from someone who's had a similar problem. I'm relieved it might be something as straightforward as a loose cable. The last thing I need right now is a heap of repair bills on top of everything else! Just a quick one though - do you remember how much it cost you to get the sensor cable issue sorted? I'm just trying to get a rough idea of what to expect. Also, since they fixed it, have you had any other issues creep up related to this, or has it been smooth sailing? The dread of more problems coming up has been hanging over me like a dark cloud. Cheers for your help!

Hey! I totally get the dread of unexpected car repair bills creeping up. But in this case, you're in luck. The troubleshooting for the cable issue on my Duster didn't empty my wallet. It was only about 155€ ─ not too bad, considering it did wonders for my ride. After getting it sorted, I haven’t had a snag with the cruise control since, not even a minor problem. It's been smooth sailing indeed! I guess once they get the cable seated properly and all connections checked, you can trust your cruise control to behave. Hope this eases your worries! Cheers!

Hey! Cheers! Your words indeed put a lot of weight off my shoulders. Seems like what I presumed as a mountain is just a molehill. 155€ bill is something I can afford without the sweat. Glad to hear you have had no more problems. Hoping mine would go the same way. You have been a great help. I'll give the garage boys a shout right away. Wish me luck! Cheers for all the help!
