Cruise Control Dies on BMW 3 Hybrid, Fault Codes Alert

BMW 3 Hybrid, Cruise Control Issues & Error Messages Hey all! I need some advice regarding my 2022 BMW 3 Hybrid (178k km). My cruise control stopped working completely, and I'm getting error messages on the speedometer display. Already checked the error memory which shows some stored faults. Had a pretty disappointing experience with my last mechanic, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar issues? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey there! I actually dealt with a similar issue on my 2019 BMW 5 Series Hybrid last month. The cruise control failure turned out to be related to faulty wiring connections in the steering wheel controls. The main problem was corrosion on the cable connectors that link the steering wheel module to the main control unit. During my garage visit, the technician found that moisture had gotten into the connection points over time. It wasn't a major mechanical issue, but it definitely needed professional attention since it involved the car's electrical system. They had to replace some connectors and clean the contact points. The repair itself took about 2 hours. Since then, my cruise control has been working perfectly, and those annoying error messages disappeared completely. My advice would be to have it checked by a certified BMW technician, as they'll have the right diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact issue. These electrical gremlins can be tricky to diagnose without proper equipment. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, as I'm seeing the exact same symptoms with my cruise control. Dealing with electrical issues is always a pain, but it's good to know it might just be those connectors rather than something more serious. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you paid for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks popping up?

Hey again! Happy to give you an update! Yes, everything's been working perfectly fine since I had it fixed. The total repair cost came to 95 €, pretty reasonable considering I was worried it might be something way more expensive. The mechanic found it was just a faulty cable connection that needed sorting out. You know what's funny? I was also super worried at first, thinking it might be some major electrical system failure, but it turned out to be relatively straightforward. Since the repair, my cruise control has been working flawlessly, no more error messages, no glitches, nothing. It's such a relief when these things turn out to be simpler than expected! Haven't noticed any other issues popping up either. The car's been running like a charm for the past month. Honestly, if you're seeing the same symptoms I had, it's probably the same issue. Just make sure you get a certified technician to look at it, these electrical problems can be tricky if not handled properly. Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know how it goes if you get it fixed.

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! I actually went ahead and got it checked out today based on your advice. Turns out you were spot on, it was indeed a wiring issue, though in my case it was a loose connection in the steering column that was causing the cruise control to malfunction. The mechanic I found was great, really took the time to explain everything. The repair cost me around 120 bucks, slightly more than yours but still way better than what I was fearing. Took them about an hour and a half to fix it. The best part? No more error messages on the display, and the cruise control is working perfectly again! Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. You definitely saved me from a lot of unnecessary worry. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get this sorted!
