Hey, thanks for the info! I'm a little reassured to hear that it wasn't serious for you. Do you happen to remember how much the whole thing cost? And have you had any other problems with the soft top or anything else since then? It would be really great if you could help me.

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! After I took the car to the mechanic, they fixed the defect in the sunblind on the rear window. It was the cable connection that was faulty. The whole thing cost me €155 - not exactly cheap, but I think every penny was worth it. Since the repair, I haven't had any more problems with the soft top. Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Great, thanks for the detailed answer! That really helps me. 155 may be a bit expensive, but if it solves the problem, then I'm happy to pay it. I will definitely have the cable connection and the sensors checked at my next workshop visit. Hopefully the problem will no longer occur after that. Thanks again for your help, really great!

Hi My buddy also drives a 3 Series convertible. Last summer he also had the problem that the soft top would no longer open. In his case it was the wiring harness that runs through the roof on the driver's side. Several cables were disconnected there. He had a mechanic friend repair it and it worked again.

Hello, I understand your problem only too well. The situation was quite similar with my 2007 BMW 5 Series. I had problems with the soft top, but it wasn't a sunblind that was causing the problem, it was the hydraulics of the soft top itself. It could also be a problem with the sensors if your warning light comes on. You should address all of this at your next visit to the workshop. Don't worry, it was annoying but nothing too serious. Don't forget, the garage can give you a loaner car if it takes them longer to fix the problem. Good luck!
