Cold start problems and weak battery in Seat Ibiza petrol engine 2015 - experience reports and solutions wanted

Hi, I have a problem with my Seat Ibiza petrol engine, built in 2015. Recently, the cold start has taken longer, sometimes it doesn't start at all and the battery seems weak when starting. I suspect that the battery sensor could be to blame. Have you had similar experiences and can you give me tips on how to narrow down the problem? Have you been to the garage for this and how did they solve the problem? I would be pleased to hear about your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Seat Leon, I would say I have some experience with cars. With my Leon, it also took longer to start and the battery also seemed weak to me. I then went to my garage and they found that the power supply was faulty. The repair cost me 270 euros at the time and everything worked perfectly again afterwards. Can you perhaps give us a few more details about your car? Then we might be able to help you better. Good luck!

Thanks for your answer! My Ibiza already has 195142 km on the clock and the last service was about 3 months ago. Until then everything was running normally. Now, however, this starting problem is occurring more and more frequently. I also suspect that it could be the power supply, as you had the same problem with your Leon. So I'm going to go to my garage first and ask them about it. Hopefully it won't be too expensive... Thanks again for your advice!

Hey, no problem, we're all happy to help here. Sounds like a similar problem to the one I had with my Leon. With so many kilometers on the odometer and the last service 3 months ago, I wouldn't be surprised if it could actually be the power supply. Hopefully you can sort it out quickly. And don't worry, even if it is the power supply, the repair isn't that expensive. In my case it was "only" 270 euros. Don't worry too much, hope it gets solved quickly. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your encouraging words and of course for your help. It's great to know that I'm not alone in my suspicions. I will take the car to the garage tomorrow and hope that it is indeed just a problem with the power supply and that the costs will be limited. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out. Thanks again and have a nice evening!

Hi! I had a similar issue with my car. It turned out to be a faulty battery sensor and a weak battery. I recommend that you check both. Another option could be to visit a mechanic to help solve the issues quickly.

Before you take your car to the garage, you could try to check the battery yourself. If you have a multimeter, you can measure the voltage of the battery when the car is off. It should be around 12.6 volts. If it's significantly lower, the battery might be the issue. If the battery seems fine, then it could indeed be the power supply or the battery sensor.
