Thanks for sharing your experience with the auto key problem. Mine got fixed exactly as you described, just a dead key battery replacement did the trick. Been working fine for several months now with the new CR2032. Would you mind sharing what the electronic key repair cost you in total? Did any other issues come up since you changed the battery? Just want to track if there might be related problems I should watch out for with my Chrysler 300.

Getting the key fob battery replacement done at the dealer cost me 37€ total, including parts and labor. Since having the dead key battery replaced, the low battery warning disappeared completely and the keyless entry system works perfectly. No additional issues have surfaced in the months following the repair. Looking back, I probably could have saved money by replacing the battery myself, but I wanted a professional to check the key fob contacts while they had it open. The auto key system has been completely reliable since the service, no more intermittent locking problems or warning messages. For anyone else reading with similar symptoms, when your key fob starts acting up, a battery replacement is usually the simplest fix. Just make sure to address it promptly when you first see the low battery warning, before the key dies completely and leaves you stranded.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to visit my local mechanic last week after reading these responses. The whole electronic key repair was quick and simple, took about 15 minutes and cost me 42€ for parts and labor. The mechanic confirmed it was just a dead key battery causing all the trouble. They cleaned the contacts while replacing the battery, and now my keyless entry system works perfectly again. No more error messages or locking issues with the Chrysler. What a relief to fix this without major expense. The fob battery had been slowly dying for weeks, causing those inconsistent door locks. Lesson learned, will definitely replace the key battery right away next time I see the low voltage warning.

I encountered the same low battery warning on my 2016 Chrysler 200 Diesel last month. The key fob started acting inconsistently, first with intermittent door locking issues, then the electronic key stopped working completely. The system shows a warning message because the key battery voltage drops below the required threshold. Replacing the battery in the key fob resolved all issues. This is actually a common maintenance item, not a serious problem with the car electronics. Most key fobs use a CR2032 battery which can be replaced at home. The battery compartment opens with a small flathead screwdriver. Just ensure proper battery orientation when installing the new one. If the new battery doesnt fix it, there could be other issues like corroded contacts inside the key fob or problems with the cars receiver module. But in my case, and most others, the simple battery replacement restored full functionality of the keyless entry system. Important: Keep a spare physical key ready before attempting any key fob battery replacement, just in case something goes wrong during the process.
