Thanks for sharing your experience with the sun blind repair. My Chrysler 200 had the exact same issue last year with the electric sunshade getting stuck. The symptoms match exactly what you described, complete failure of the sun protection system and stored error code. Would you mind sharing what the final cost was for your repair? My window visor assembly needed a full replacement and I am curious how prices compare. Also, has everything worked properly since the fix or have you noticed any other car interior issues developing?

The total repair cost for my sun blind motor replacement came to 330€, which included parts and labor. Since having the car sunshade mechanism fixed by the mechanic, the system has worked flawlessly. The window visor moves smoothly and responds immediately to controls, just like when the car was new. After six months of regular use, no additional interior accessory issues have developed. The UV protection works perfectly, and the entire sun visor assembly operates without any strange noises or hesitation. The investment was worth it to restore full functionality to the solar protection system. The replacement parts were high quality and the repair shop did excellent work ensuring proper alignment. No rattling or fitment issues have appeared since the fix, which can sometimes happen with overhead components if not installed correctly.

I finally decided to get my stuck sunshade fixed last week. Took it to the repair shop and the total came to 395€ for the complete car sunshade replacement. A bit more than I hoped but still better than leaving the sun protection system broken. The mechanic showed me the old motor unit which was completely burned out. The interior accessory repair took about 3 hours total since they had to carefully remove parts of the headliner to access everything. They installed a new motor and track system for the sun blind. Just picked up the car yesterday and the sunshade is working perfectly now. Moves smoothly and quietly with no hesitation. Definitely worth fixing rather than living with a broken UV protection system. No other issues have come up since the repair.

Working as a mechanic at a garage, I encountered this exact issue on my 2012 Chrysler 300 with the sun visor system. The motor that controls the car sunshade had failed, preventing any movement. The error code typically indicates either a burned-out motor or a damaged gear mechanism in the interior accessory assembly. In my case, the entire sun blind motor unit needed replacement, not just individual components. While not a critical safety issue, leaving it unrepaired risks the mechanism becoming permanently jammed. The repair involved removing the headliner partially to access the car interior components above. The replacement included a new motor, track system, and UV protection screen. This is a known issue in several Chrysler models from that generation. The repair is moderately complex since it requires careful disassembly of the overhead console and surrounding trim pieces. A proper fix requires specific tools and expertise to ensure the car sunshade operates smoothly after installation. The good news is this is not a serious mechanical issue affecting vehicle operation. However, professional installation is recommended due to the complexity of overhead interior components and electrical connections.
