BMW X4 Injector Problems: Symptoms and Solutions Guide

Hey everyone, having troubles with my 2022 BMW X4 lately. Engine's been acting up, rough idle, stalling, weak starts, drinking more fuel than usual, and power feels down. Mechanic mentioned it could be faulty injectors. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and got it fixed? Really curious about repair costs and workshop experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I've got some experience with cars and had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW X3 last year. My symptoms were almost identical, rough idle, stalling, and terrible fuel consumption. The workshop diagnosed it as dirty fuel injectors, which was causing irregular fuel spray patterns. Got it sorted at a BMW specialist, they did a thorough injector cleaning service which cost me 515 Euro. Car's been running smooth as silk since then! If you're experiencing these symptoms with your X4, I'd really recommend getting those injectors checked ASAP. Could you share how many miles/kilometers you've got on the clock? Also, what type of fuel do you usually use? This info would help determine if we're dealing with the same issue. I've also heard similar stories from other X4/X3 owners, so it's not uncommon. Just make sure you get it checked by a qualified technician who knows BMWs well.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, my X4's at 100897 KM and just had its service last month. Been using premium fuel since day one, but these symptoms only started recently. Good to know the injector cleaning worked out for you, definitely sounds like it could be the same issue. The cost seems reasonable too, especially if it sorts out all these problems. Think I'll book it in with a BMW specialist next week. Rather fix it now than wait for it to get worse.

Hey again! Thanks for the update on your X4. You're definitely making the right call getting it checked out soon. When my X3 had these issues, I waited a bit too long and noticed the symptoms got progressively worse, especially the fuel consumption. It was literally drinking fuel! Just to share a bit more from my experience, after I got the injector cleaning done, I noticed an immediate difference in how the car ran. The idle smoothed out within the first few minutes of driving, and that annoying stalling completely disappeared. My fuel economy improved by about 15-20% too, which was a nice bonus. Since you've been using premium fuel (just like I did), it's probably not a fuel quality issue. Sometimes these injectors just get gunked up over time, even with the best fuel. My mechanic showed me the before and after readings from the diagnostic tool, and the difference in spray patterns was pretty dramatic. Given your mileage is similar to what mine was when I had the problem, I'd say you're spot on with getting it sorted next week. Let us know how it goes, always good to hear how these fixes work out for others!

Thanks for the additional info, that's really reassuring! Those improvements you mentioned sound exactly like what I'm hoping for. It's actually getting a bit frustrating watching the fuel gauge drop so quickly these days. Great to hear about the immediate difference you noticed after the cleaning, gives me hope this won't be some complicated, drawn-out repair. I'll definitely schedule that appointment first thing tomorrow. My mechanic mentioned they could get me in next Tuesday, so not too long to wait. And you're right about these issues possibly getting worse, I've noticed the stalling's become more frequent just this week. Will keep you posted on how it goes, and thanks again for all the helpful details about your experience. Really appreciate having someone who's been through the same thing!
