Thanks for sharing your experience! My last service was about 8 months ago, and I'm currently at 48228 KM. No weird engine sounds, but I've noticed the car feels a bit sluggish when accelerating. I'm thinking I should probably get it checked soon, especially after hearing about your experience. Did you notice any performance issues before getting yours fixed? Really helpful to know about the oil contamination in your case, gives me a good starting point for what to look into.

Hey again! Yeah, the sluggish acceleration you're describing sounds exactly like what I experienced with my X1. Before I got mine fixed, I definitely noticed it wasn't as responsive as usual, especially when trying to pass other cars on the highway. Since you mentioned your last service was 8 months ago, that's pretty close to when my issues started popping up. I was around 45000 KM when my warning lights came on, so we're in the same ballpark. One thing I didn't mention in my first response, I also noticed my fuel consumption went up a bit before I got it fixed. Did you notice anything like that? The good news is, once I got the oil and filter changed, my X1 went back to its usual peppy self. The workshop also told me they found some metal particles in the old oil, which explained the contamination. They recommended slightly shorter service intervals for our model, like every 6 months instead of the standard schedule. Given your symptoms are so similar to what I experienced, I'd say get it checked sooner rather than later. These BMWs can be sensitive about oil quality, and it's better to be safe than sorry. Let me know what you find out when you get it looked at!

Thanks for all that detailed info! The similarities between our situations are actually pretty reassuring. Yeah, now that you mention it, I have noticed my fuel consumption has gone up a bit lately, I just wasn't connecting the dots until you brought it up. It's really helpful to know that changing the oil and filter solved your issues, especially since we're dealing with such similar symptoms and mileage. I'm definitely going to take your advice and get it checked out this week. Don't want to risk any engine damage by waiting too long. The tip about shorter service intervals is really valuable too, I'll keep that in mind going forward. When I noticed these warning lights, I was worried it might be something major, but hearing about your experience makes me feel a lot better about it. I'll make sure to have them check for metal particles in the oil too since that was the culprit in your case. I really appreciate you taking the time to share all this info. I'll definitely update you once I get it looked at, hopefully it'll be a straightforward fix like yours was! Thanks again for all your help!

Hey! I have some experience working on BMWs. Had a similar issue with my 2012 BMW X1 last year, and my neighbor owns an X5. Those warning lights definitely ring a bell, turned out my maintenance was way overdue. I took it to my trusted workshop, and they found the oil was heavily contaminated. Got an oil change, new filter, and they did a full inspection of the oil system. Cost me around 165 Euro, but it fixed both warning lights. Before I share more specific details, what's your current mileage, and when was your last oil change? Also, are you noticing any unusual engine sounds or performance issues? This info would help me understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Hope this helps! Let me know those details, and I can give you more targeted advice.
