Thanks for sharing your experience! My X1 is a bit newer than yours with only 5800 KM on the clock since my latest service. I'm dealing with error codes on all doors, and it's pretty frustrating since I've been quite meticulous with maintenance. Kind of relieved to hear yours was just a wiring issue, that sounds way better than having to replace the entire locking system. The symptoms you described sound exactly like what I'm experiencing. Think I'll get it checked out by a mechanic to see if it's also just a loose connection. Fingers crossed it's a simple fix like yours!

Hey again! Thanks for coming back with those details. You know, hearing about your X1's low mileage actually makes me even more convinced it could be similar to what I dealt with on my X3. These wiring issues can pop up regardless of mileage, sometimes it's just about how the connections wear over time, even with perfect maintenance. Just to give you a bit more detail about my experience, before I got it fixed, I actually tried testing each door individually. Found that while all doors were affected, the driver's side showed the issue first. The error codes started showing up pretty out of nowhere at first, then became constant. Quick tip from my experience, before you head to the mechanic, you might want to listen carefully when you press the lock/unlock button. In my case, there was this really faint clicking sound from the driver's door that was different from normal. That's what helped my mechanic pinpoint the issue faster. Since your X1 is newer than my X3 was, you might even be looking at a simpler fix. The newer models have slightly better wiring protection, from what I've heard. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out, really hoping it's just a basic wiring fix like mine was!

Thanks so much for those extra details and tips! I just went out to test what you mentioned about the clicking sound, and you're right! There's definitely something off about the sound from the driver's side door. It's making more of a dull thud than the usual crisp click. Really appreciate you mentioning this as it's exactly the kind of specific detail that will help when I talk to the mechanic. Your detailed explanation has made me feel a lot more confident about handling this. I've already called my regular mechanic and booked it in for tomorrow morning. Was actually pretty worried this would turn into some crazy expensive repair, but hearing about your experience with a similar issue has definitely put my mind at ease. Will definitely update you once I get it checked out, hoping for that simple wiring fix like yours!

Hey there! I have some experience with BMWs and had a really similar issue with my 2012 BMW X3. I know how annoying these central locking problems can be! Had the exact same symptoms, central locking completely stopped working, throwing error codes. Took it to my regular workshop and turns out it was just a faulty wiring connection to the central locking control unit. The mechanic fixed the loose cable and replaced a damaged plug connector. Cost me around 95 Euro for the whole repair, including labor. Been working perfectly since then, no more issues. Before diving deeper, could you share: Any specific error codes you're getting? Does this happen with all doors or just some? Have you noticed any other electrical issues? This would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience.
