Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. Would you mind telling me roughly how much the amp replacement and rewiring work set you back? Also, has your audio system been working fine since the repair, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Really appreciate your help with this!

Hey again! Happy to report that after getting it fixed, my audio system has been working perfectly, not a single issue since then! For me, it wasn't actually the amp that needed replacing in the end. The mechanic found it was just a defective bass speaker causing all the drama, which was a relief since it kept the costs down. They charged me 280€ for the new speaker and labor, which wasn't as painful as I'd feared. Honestly, I'm so glad I didn't wait longer to get it checked out. I was worried it might snowball into a bigger electrical problem, but catching it early probably saved me from more expensive repairs down the line. The sound quality is actually better than ever now, really brings out those bass notes nicely! Hope this helps give you an idea of what you might be looking at cost-wise. If your symptoms are similar, it might just be the same issue. Let me know how it goes when you get yours looked at!

Thanks so much for all the details! After reading your experience, I finally got the courage to take my X1 to a new mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was also a speaker issue, though in my case it was a wiring problem affecting multiple speakers. The mechanic showed me where the wires had worn down, probably from vibration over time. The repair was actually cheaper than I expected, came to around 350 for parts and labor. They finished it in just a few hours, and I'm beyond relieved! The sound system is working perfectly now, even better than before. No more crackling, and the bass is crystal clear. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Was getting pretty tired of driving in silence! Thanks again for encouraging me to get it checked out, definitely made the right call going to a new mechanic this time.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW X3 last year. The bass speaker started crackling, followed by complete audio failure within a few weeks. Turned out the amp unit was defective and had damaged some of the speaker wiring. Took it to a garage and they found moisture had gotten into the amplifier, causing corrosion on the circuit board. It wasn't just a simple speaker replacement, they had to replace the entire amp unit and rewire part of the system. Not a quick fix, took them about two days to complete the work. It was quite serious since the amp damage could have affected other electrical components if left unchecked. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, I'd suggest finding a BMW specialist who knows these systems well. The audio system in these cars is pretty complex, and you'll want someone who can properly diagnose the root cause. Best of luck getting it sorted.
