Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! This really helps since I'm facing the exact same problems. The symptoms you mentioned match mine perfectly. Makes me feel better knowing I'm not alone with this DISA valve headache. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair job? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Thanks again for the detailed response, especially about using genuine BMW parts, that's definitely good to know.

Hey again! Glad I could help with my previous reply. Yes, I got the DISA valve fixed and it cost me 280 € for the complete unit replacement. Best money I've spent on the car, honestly! The engine's been running like a dream since, no more power drops, rough idling, or any of those annoying symptoms. It's amazing what a difference one component can make. My M440i is purring like a kitten now, and I haven't had a single issue since the repair. The garage did a proper job with the genuine BMW parts, and you can really feel the difference in how the engine responds. Trust me, once you get it sorted, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Just make sure whoever does the work knows what they're doing with BMWs. And definitely stick with the original parts, it's worth every cent. Keep us posted on how it goes with your repair!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I actually just got back from the mechanic yesterday. You were spot on about everything, it turned out my DISA valve was completely shot. Found a really good BMW specialist who diagnosed it right away. The repair came in a bit higher at 350 € but they did a thorough job. What a difference it's made! No more check engine light, the idle is smooth again, and the power delivery is back to normal. They showed me the old valve too, it was in pretty rough shape. Really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. Appreciate all your help and advice about sticking with genuine parts. The mechanic said the same thing, and seeing how well it's running now, I can see why. Thanks again for helping me sort this out!

Had the same symptoms with my 2020 BMW M440i last summer. The DISA valve was definitely shot, same issues you're describing with power loss, CEL, and rough running. Got it checked at my usual garage and they confirmed the entire DISA unit was failing. They showed me the broken flap and worn-out components inside the unit. It wasn't just the valve, the whole assembly needed replacement. Had it fixed right away since these symptoms usually get worse and can potentially damage other engine components if left unchecked. The repair took about 3-4 hours. While they were at it, they also cleaned the intake manifold, which had some carbon buildup. Definitely recommend getting it checked soon, it's not something you want to postpone since it affects engine performance and efficiency. Just make sure whoever works on it uses genuine BMW parts. The DISA unit isn't something you want to cheap out on with aftermarket alternatives.
