BMW M3 Warning Lights & Fault Memory Lock Issue

Thanks for the detailed response! My M3 has 198246 KM on the clock and was just serviced last month. The warning lights started appearing out of nowhere during drives, not just at startup. I'm seeing the ABS, traction control, and check engine lights all at once. Haven't had any electrical work done recently, which makes it even more puzzling. I keep up with regular maintenance, but this came out of nowhere. The codes seem to be locked in the system and won't clear even after disconnecting the battery. Pretty frustrating situation, especially since everything was running smooth until now.

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your M3. You know what? This is sounding even more similar to what I experienced with my M5. When you mentioned the specific warning lights and that they won't clear even after disconnecting the battery, it really rings a bell. In my case, after deeper diagnosis, it turned out that the ABS control module was acting up, it was sending faulty signals that triggered multiple warning lights, just like you're describing. The locked codes were definitely a headache! I tried the battery disconnect trick too, but no luck, just like your situation. The fact that your car was recently serviced is interesting, sometimes these modules can get a bit confused after service work, especially if any voltage fluctuations occurred during the process. With my M5, the workshop had to use their professional diagnostic tool to properly reset the system and then reflash the ABS module. Have you noticed any other symptoms? Like, does the ABS feel different when braking? With mine, I actually started noticing a slight pulsing in the brake pedal before all the warning lights showed up. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked at a workshop that specializes in BMWs. Those locked codes usually need proper diagnostic equipment to clear them. The good news is that once they fixed mine, it's been running perfectly for the past year.

Thanks so much for the follow-up! Actually, now that you mention it, I have noticed a slight vibration in the brake pedal lately, but I thought I was just being paranoid. What you're saying about the ABS module makes a lot of sense, especially since the symptoms are so similar to what you experienced. I've got a good relationship with a BMW specialist who did my last service, so I'll give them a call tomorrow and mention what you've shared about the ABS module and system reset. It's really reassuring to hear that yours has been running perfectly since the fix. These cars can be complicated sometimes, but they're worth the hassle! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's given me a much clearer direction on what to look into. I'll update once I get it sorted out. Thanks again for all the help! The BMW community is always so supportive with these technical issues.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2008 BMW M5 last summer (I have some experience working on cars, mostly basic maintenance). Those warning lights can definitely be scary! Mine started acting up just like yours, multiple warnings and error messages. Turned out to be an undervoltage problem that was messing with the electrical systems. My regular workshop diagnosed it and fixed it, cost me about 240 Euro but totally worth it for peace of mind. Could you share more details about when this started happening? Like, does it occur when starting the car or while driving? Also, which specific warning lights are you seeing? This info would help me better understand if it's the same issue I faced with my Bimmer. Just curious, have you had any recent electrical work done on the car? Sometimes these issues can pop up after battery replacement or if there's been work on the electrical system.
