Thanks for sharing your experience! I took delivery of my M3 last year and it's been great until now, just 19251 KM on the clock and had its latest service two months ago. The issue started quite suddenly, actually. No weird noises or anything, it just stopped responding altogether. The blind is stuck halfway, which is super annoying, especially during sunny days. Your experience with the motor replacement is really helpful to know. I was worried it might be something more complicated. Did your warranty cover the repair? Mine should still be under warranty since it's pretty new. Just trying to understand what to expect when I take it in. Again, really appreciate the detailed info about your repair!

Hey again! Glad I could help, and thanks for the additional details about your M3. Actually, my situation was a bit different from yours because my M4 was just out of warranty when it happened (talk about timing, right?). That's why I had to pay for the repair myself. But since your M3 is still under warranty and only has 19251 KM, you should definitely be covered! Looking at how your issue started, suddenly and with no warning signs, it sounds exactly like what happened to mine. The fact that it's stuck halfway is also very similar. The good news is that warranty should take care of everything, including parts and labor. Just make sure you take it to an authorized dealer to avoid any warranty complications. When I had mine fixed, they also did a full diagnostic check of the entire roof system just to make sure there weren't any other potential issues. You might want to ask them to do the same while they're at it. Keep us posted on how it goes! It's always helpful to know how these things turn out, especially since quite a few of us seem to run into this issue with our Ms.

Thanks so much for all this helpful info! I'm really relieved to hear that it's likely covered under warranty, and I'll definitely get it checked at the authorized dealer. Good tip about requesting a full diagnostic check of the roof system, I'll make sure to ask for that. Just booked an appointment for next week. The service advisor actually confirmed over the phone that they've dealt with similar issues before, so that's somewhat reassuring. At least I know what I'm walking into now, thanks to your experience. Will update the thread once it's fixed! Really appreciate everyone's help here. It's great to have such a supportive community to turn to when these things happen. Time to deal with this annoying half-open sunblind situation! Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!

Hi there! I have some experience working on cars and faced a similar issue with my 2020 BMW M4 last year. The sunblind got completely stuck and wouldn't budge at all. After checking with several workshops, I finally took it to a certified workshop where they diagnosed a faulty sunblind motor. They had to replace the entire motor mechanism, which set me back about 330 Euro. The repair took about half a day, but it's been working perfectly since then. Apparently, this isn't uncommon in these models. I also know someone who had the same problem with their M5, so it might be a recurring issue in this series. Could you share if you're hearing any unusual sounds when trying to operate the sunblind? Also, did this happen suddenly or was it gradual? This info would help understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Feel free to ask any specific questions about the repair process!
